Today we’re excited to announce the all-new standalone Amazon Appstore mobile app for Android. The new mobile app is redesigned from the ground up, allowing customers to enjoy the same apps and games that they engage with on Fire TV and Fire tablets on their mobile phones. The app is available here for download.
New interface makes it easy to discover apps
The new Appstore design has a simplified user interface, making it easy for customers to discover the apps and games they love. The navigation bar at the bottom of the app allows customers to quickly navigate between various pages with few clicks.
The “Categories” tab allows customers to discover new apps through a more visually driven user interface. The “My Apps” tab introduces an easy way for customers to manage and update their third-party apps so they can get the latest and best experience from their favorite content.
New ways to experience Amazon Coins
The new Amazon Appstore includes new ways for customers to experience Amazon Coins through a dedicated tab inside the app. Additionally, customers can now purchase Coins from anywhere in the Appstore app.
Using Amazon Coins, customers can buy apps, games, and in-app items from Appstore for less. The more Coins a customer buys at a time, the more they will save. Whether customers acquire Coins at a discount, or for free as rewards in games, you still earn your full 70% royalty.
What does this mean for Amazon Appstore developers?
If you’re an existing Appstore developer and you’ve selected to distribute your apps on “All other Android devices”, you don’t have to do anything. Your app will automatically be available to customers using the new Amazon Appstore.
